Tyra Banks: Black Magazine

Gorgeous...

Tyra Banks is always on top of her game. She was the first African American model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated and she created the one of the most watched shows Americas Top Model. Tyra still looks vibrant as ever and can still work a camera, this model mogul never stops and she wont stop . Tyra is on the Cover of  Black Magazine and she is giving us life in these photos. In the article in Black Magazine she states...

"To be honest, I wasn’t attracted to the fashion industry, the fashion industry found me. I was discovered on a school bench the first day of high school by a fellow student. I thought I was far too awkward and gawky to ever be associated with modeling but it was actually those qualities that launched my early career. Once I was in the fashion world and walking the runways of Paris I was attracted to the nuance of the industry; the specific things that certain designers looked for in a model and what aesthetic caught their eye. I tried to be a chameleon and studied up on designers prior to meeting them at “go-sees” (auditioning for modeling jobs) in order to be the fashion muse they were looking to cast."

I love this statement because it's ok to be different and gawky as she says, that's what the industry looks for. As I was coming up I was teased at times and looked at funny because I was different and even as an adult I get stares from people, especially living in Cincinnati, Oh which is not a fashion city. I can't help but to be who I am, being different when it comes to fashion.

Let's take a look at her photo shoot by Thom Kerr in Black Magazine...

Enjoy!

Style Profile

Phaedra Parks

The Southern Belle is always decked out and dressed to the 9's, I love her color blocked sandals and her yellow leather jacket to her goddess bun. Phaedra is never afraid to show off her curves and flaunt them in a lady like way.
