BET Honors Lee Daniels

Today's focus...

Last night on the BET Honors some of the most gracious people were honored like Lee Daniels, Patti LaBelle, L.A. Reid, Melody Hobson, and Eric Holder.

Lee Daniels

Daniels discovered his sexual identity in a home that was not welcoming for an LGBT child, and was severely beaten by his father. As a young boy his grandmother told him to his face that he was a "faggot but baby go out and tell the truth, its going to be good."  He also explains how, as he grew older he watched lovers die from aids and drug abuse.  Lee eventually took control over his addiction and blossomed. After helping Halle Berry get her Oscar for Monster's Ball. Lee says he was strung out when Halle Berry won her Oscar for Monster's Ball, methed out his mind which is very historic. He went on to direct films like Precious and The Butler also breaking TV records with Empire, Lee Daniels has become one of Hollywood's most elite.
