The NYFW 2016 Review

Farah Angsana returned to the runway this season at New York Fashion Week showcasing her Fall/Winter ’16 Collection at Style Fashion Week. Inspired by her Indonesian heritage and audacious hand-embellishments and lavish embroideries created elegant movements along the runway, the collection was full of life, sparkle and electrifying hues. Farah showed a variety of necklines, silhouettes and shapes making her collection extremely eye-catching. As each model strutted down the runway, Farah’s pieces flowed gracefully and created an enchanting energy throughout the hall. Bringing new cultural and ethnic qualities to haute couture, this collection brought light and warmth to a chilly New York day.
PLY
Fashion Extraordinaire Diana Vreeland was this season's inspiration for fashion house PLY. The focus was on clean lines and timeless elegant silhouettes. Classic with a twist. Their new color Fuscia that was in their collection is their color for Breast Cancer this season. It was a great addition to their classic palettes of Black, Brown and Camel. PLY pays great attention to details and the women's curves. When speaking with Co-designer Pamela Nanton, she informed me this collection took a long time to make. It was definitely worth the wait!!

Alicia Appleton:Breath.Pray.Love
New York, NY— Amber Poitier, high end contemporary jewelry brand, announced today that it will debut its premier collection during New York Fashion Week. The gallery style presentation entitled Breathe.Pray.Love, took place on Tuesday, February 16th in Manhattan’s trendy NoMAD neighborhood.
Launched just last Fall by New York based designer Alicia Appleton, Amber Poitier draws its inspiration from nature and the city. The line featured handcrafted pieces constructed of wood, metal, leather, and acrylic shaped in chic, modern yet edgy designs.
Breathe.Pray.Love, the line’s first collection—inspired by the memoir and film, Eat.Pray,Love—is a metaphor of the designer’s journey in the fashion world. Breathe being a representation of letting go of her twelve-year stint in corporate fashion (exhale) and embarking on a new path (inhale). Pray depicts Appleton’s search for direction, peace and happiness. Ultimately, Love is exemplified in the collection that showcases her renewed passion to create.
“Corporate fashion simultaneously educated and jaded me,” Alicia said recently. “The creation of the Amber Poitier brand and the new collection has rejuvenated my love for designing again. It has allowed me to step into my purpose.”
